Powertech Labs wanted to explore the feasibility of developing an Inspiration Centre & Communities Concept to increase awareness of energy conservation and available alternative energy technologies; to inspire audiences to adopt new sustainable energy behaviours and associated technologies; and to increase awareness of made-in-BC technologies and practices.

Our firm worked with colleagues at Aldrich Pears and Economic Research Associates out of San Francisco. We conducted research, facilitated stakeholder workshops and undertook partnership planning as part of the Concept and Feasibility Study.

The report identified and developed key ideas, messages and strategies for encouraging BC residents to: adopt the use of alternative energy technologies; and to demonstrate behaviour that is more conservation minded. It identified potential partners and ways in which to involve and increase the capacity of these groups to be involved in the development of the Centre. As well as identifying partners that could be involved in the design, installation and servicing of new energy conservation and alternative technologies, particularly made-in-BC technologies displayed in the Centre. It also outlined concepts to effectively community ideas and messages, while defining the parameters of an energy inspiration centre with recommendations on location(s).
